Jazz is an upbeat, fun style of dance that can be done to the classics or todays pop! Jazz has the technique of ballet without the classical restrictions. You are free to let lose and put your personality in your moves! You will have a variety of jazz styles at PDA, from Fosse to Jazz Funk and at PDA we only teach age appropriate moves to age appropriate music.
Tap
Tap is a fun, rythmic style dance where dancers wear shoes that have taps on the bottoms and use these shoes to make sounds on the floor . At PDA, the style of tap ranges from Broadway all the way to Funk Tap. We start tap at a very young age to work on rhythm and coordination. Plus the kids love making music with their feet while dancing along!
Tumbling
At PDA, our tumbling classes are structured by levels. We have a Preschool tumbling class where your tumbler will learn the basics of tumbling such as rolls and backbends, all the way up to an Intermediate/Advanced Tumbling, where your tumbler will master skills like backtucks and aerials. We also focus on acro dance at PDA, which blends dance and acro and allows your tumbler to learn some really neat tricks!

Stretching and Conditioning
It is very important as dancers that we stretch and condition our body to be able to handle such a demanding sport! At PDA, we focus on dance specific exercises to help with flexibility and strength in order to prevent injury, We want to take care of our bodies so that we can do what we love for as long as posible!
Contemporary/Lyrical
Contemporary and Lyrical are styles that are inbetween ballet and jazz. They tend to be faster than ballet but slower than jazz. Contemporary and lyrical have more freedom of movement than ballet and usually combine different styles of dance. They both explore floor work and how your body connects emotionally to songs through breath and energy.
Class Discriptions:
Dance styles are not universal across the board. Yes, the history, the origin, and the steps are the same so to speak. But each studio, along with their teachers, has it's own version and unique way of sharing and teaching each style. Please read these class discriptions for a little bit better idea of PDA's version of each dance style and feel free to reach out to us with any questions!
We start our Preschool Classes as young as 2 years old (your child must be potty trained or you must stay in the lobby). Most of our Preschool Classes are combo classes or are stacked so they are convient for your schedule! Come once a week and watch your child have a blast! Or drop them off and run some errands (if potty trained) and know they will be taken care of! We currently offer Balet, Tap, Hip Hop, and Tumbling Preschool Classes.
